The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has published a survey on wedding planning in India that found that of the total number of wedding plans that were completed in the country between 2013 and 2015, just 2.4% were successful.
A study in 2011, conducted by the National Sample Survey Office, found that only 0.3% of plans were successful, the highest of all surveys conducted in India.
“The survey indicates that a large proportion of couples have opted for a wedding plan that is based on the wrong assumptions and that they do not plan ahead for the day of the wedding,” said an NBS spokesperson.
The spokesperson added that the NBS conducted a survey in 2016 and found that the figure is now only 2.6%.
The spokesperson also added that they would also be monitoring this issue and would publish a similar survey in the near future.
A previous survey conducted in 2016 showed that the share of couples that wanted to hold their wedding on a Saturday was only 2% while only 2-3% wanted to have a wedding on the same day.
This survey has been published for the first time after it was conducted by NBS in 2015.
The NBS had asked couples how they had chosen to plan their wedding and whether they would choose to have it on a Sunday or on a weekday.
According to the survey, 58% of couples said they would prefer to have their wedding be on a Friday or Saturday.
“As the day gets closer, couples are also asking if they should have a ceremony on Saturday or on Sunday,” the spokesperson said.
However, there are many people who say that they want to have the wedding on Sunday or the same date.
“I think the timing of the day and how it is held will be crucial for the couple,” said Shobha.
However Shobra was hesitant to go ahead with her wedding.
“It is a very personal decision.
I do not want to make a decision based on one day and then lose my money,” she said.
The National Sample Surveys Office, a branch of the National Bureau on Women, has been working on the National Wedding Planning Survey (NWP), which will be published on August 28.
According of the survey for 2017, only 1% of respondents have planned a wedding which was in the last six months.
However it is expected that this number will grow in the next couple of years.
