NHL players have vowed to get engaged in January and vow to stay together for the long haul.
The players, who play for the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche, were in Las Vegas on Thursday to celebrate the opening of the new NHL Center of Excellence.
They held a news conference to announce that they are expecting their first child in March and are looking forward to their new home, the MGM Grand, in 2019.
“This is our new home,” defenseman Jamie Benn said.
“We are going to be a family.
This is our home, and we are going do everything in our power to make it our home.”
Benn said they will have their own gym, gym memberships and a pool, and the entire team will work to get everything ready for their wedding.
They also said that they will be open to the idea of a private ceremony, and that they were open to any proposal that was not too far-fetched.
“We are not looking for a huge wedding, but I don’t want to make that too far fetched,” he said.
“There are some amazing couples out there and we want to be open minded, and be welcoming of any kind of relationship that would be great for our family.”
The Stars and Avalanche are scheduled to play three more seasons, with the new arena coming on the heels of the NHL’s most successful franchise in franchise history.
